Bereavement Support
At CureFest, we are committed to providing support for families who have experienced the loss of a child due to cancer.
We partner with the 1Voice Foundation’s Voices of Angels program to provide specialized bereavement support and activities all weekend at CureFest.
Here are some of the bereavement support services planned for CureFest this year:

1Voice Foundation’s Voices of Angels facilitates the Bereavement Tent at CureFest. This is a place for bereaved families to gather, share and bond. There are activities for parents and siblings.

Bereaved Mom Support

​If you lost your child to childhood cancer, we invite you to join other bereaved mothers for a compassionate, peer-supported gathering dedicated to sharing and healing together. Facilitated by 1Voice Foundation, this session offers a safe space for bonding and fellowship.
​
Pre-registration is required. Spots are limited. We will add a waiting list, as necessary. Child care will be provided for children ages 5 and up.

If you lost your child to childhood cancer, we invite you to join other bereaved fathers for a supportive, peer-led gathering focused on shared experiences and understanding. Facilitated by 1Voice Foundation, this session provides a secure environment for camaraderie and mutual respect and strength.
Pre-registration is required. Spots are limited. We will add a waiting list, as necessary. Child care will be provided for children ages 5 and up.

Bereaved Sibling Workshop
Hosted by 1Voice Foundation and CureFest

Ages 5-16
Session 1: 9:00 - 10:30 am
Session 2: 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
Session 3: 1:30 - 3:00 pm
For siblings of a child lost to cancer, we invite them to join other bereaved siblings for a special workshop focused on sharing and understanding. Led by a Pediatric Oncology RN experienced in helping children manage grief, this session offers age-appropriate activities and a safe space for support and understanding.

Faith and Loss

Angel Wall
​
The Angel Wall honors children who have passed away from cancer. It is part of the CureFest Tribute Wall and will be on display at Freedom Plaza on Friday, Sep. 20 and Saturday, Sep. 21.

Shoe Memorial
​
CureFest features a powerful memorial on the National Mall that pays tribute to children who have passed away from cancer.
On Sunday, Sep. 22, we will display 1,800 pairs of empty shoes at the base of the Washington Monument across from the National Sylvan Theater.
